Dear Member,
I write to invite you to join me once again in January for our annual lunch. I look forward to welcoming you at an event which is always first class. Your committee has unanimously decided upon the UJC as our venue this year and despite the limited number of seats available we believe that the venue and the menu provides great value. We are sure that both will meet with your approval. The continuing success of our lunch, as always, is a tribute to you and your contemporaries.
This year’s event will be limited to 130 diners. The date is NOT the last Friday in January, (but the 24th), and there is no deadline to order your place; rather, availability will stop being offered when all places are sold out.
This year our guest speaker will be Graham Thompson, Principal of St. Francis Xavier Sixth Form College. We will be warmly and amusingly welcomed by Colin Garvey. I will deliver a short address. Heads & Tails will feature as ever and also the winner of the 400 Club January prize of £1,000 will be drawn. (as is now traditional).
Lunch will be served at 1:15 p.m. The main meal will be meat although if you prefer a pescatarian or vegetarian course please let Eddie O’Brien know.
.oOo.
Pork Medallions with White Wine and Mushroom Sauce, Turned Carrots, Colcannon
Or
Fillet of Sea Bass with Saffron and Mussels Sauce, Grilled Fennel, Crushed Baby Potatoes
Or
Chef’s Vegetarian choice of the day
.oOo.
Apple Frangipane Tart, Whipped Cream
The cost of the event is £55.00. Please pay on-line (see page below)) or make cheques payable to ‘COXA’ and return the completed form to Eddie O’Brien. No tickets will be issued for this event. A list of attendees will be regularly updated on the Association’s website.
Last year's sponsorship to cover the cost of beer was a great success and if you are able to provide sponsorship please indicate on the attached form. I will be among the sponsors. This initiative allows members to commemorate “absent friends” and helps the Association to offset that which would otherwise be a loss-making event.
Any enquiries concerning your attendance at the function should be made to Eddie O’Brien (hon.sec@claphamoldxaverians.co.uk) - mobile 07891 713693. If you are unsure of your membership status please contact Scotty Macdonald, membership secretary, (members@claphamoldxaverians.co.uk)
Wishing you a Happy Christmas. See you at the Union Jack Club in January.
