Match Report - Sat 30th November

Frank Barretta1 Dec - 15:00

Clapham 1st XI travelled to Fulham and Compton FC 2XI and expectations were high going into the game...(great team pic by the way)

Before KO, both teams held a minute silence for the sad passing of Mick Power a great Old Xaverian.

Clapham started the game on the front foot from the get go dominating possession Aren Stephens hitting the woodwork amongst 3 or 4 really good chances in the first 25 minutes.

Clapham were nearly undone with an excellent ball over the top, except for and excellent 1 on 1 save from Sam.

Getting towards half time and Clapaham still on top it seemed only a matter of time before we opened the scoring and duly came from a well worked passing moved which was pulled back to Joe Harty to slot home from the edge of the box.

1-0 at half time.

Clapham started the 2nd half slowly and 10 minutes in to the half were punished from a corner 1-1.

The goal kicked Clapham in to life and very quickly COXA restored their lead a quick passing move and a little ball over the top for Aren to latch on to and delicately chip Keeper.

2-1 soon become 3-1 Andre showing his great speed outwide to cut in drill it home.

3-1 very nearly become 3-2 except for some outrageous defending from Sherlock - a ball over the top and the Fulham player was on goal 12 yards out - as lines up to smash it home out of nowhere a diving ‘John Terry style salmon’ makes an incredible diving header and stopping a certain goal.

With 10 minutes to go, another swift move from COXA put Tommy Mac through to smash home the 4th and round of another win for the lads.

Final score: COXA FC 4 - Fulham and Compton FC 1

Next week we are away to RC OLD boys in the London Cup for a place in the Quarter finals
